Student Welfare

The Tutor for Women, Cláudia Pazos Alonso, deals with issues, problems or queries relating particularly to the life of women students in College, including academic, social and personal problems. She liaises with the Wadham SU Women's Officer and with Tutors for Women in other Colleges.

The Tutor for Race, Shazia Choudhry, deals with any issues related to race, nationality, or ethnicity.

The Tutor for Equality and Diversity, Emily McLaughlin, deals with issues relating to age, dis/ability, background, sexuality, gender reassignment, caring responsibilities, or marital status.

The Tutor for Welfare, Fabrizio Caola, has oversight of the College's welfare strategy and provision on behalf of Governing Body, and convenes the termly Welfare Committee. He works closely with the Welfare Lead, who deals with the management of individual cases.

Harassment Advisors have been trained by the University on dealing with cases of harassment. Students may consult them confidentially about any issues involving harassment, and advice may be sought from them without invoking a formal complaints procedure. The Harassment Advisors are:

College Junior Deans are current Wadham students, living in College accommodation, trained to assist with welfare and good order among students. An important part of their role is providing pastoral support, primarily out of hours and the weekends. Contact info:

Sometimes you may want to talk to another student about what you are going through. That's why there are volunteers across the student body who would love to be there for you, or help you find the support you need. You can connect with them at welfare events or just email them directly. Please don't hesitate to reach out!

The Welfare Officers of the SU and MCR can provide a listening ear or signpost you to information about a range of welfare services. They organise regular welfare activities such as zumba and yoga, and a weekly Welfare Drop In, with snacks and chats too.

Peer Supporters are Wadham students trained by the University Counselling Services to listen and help with any issues you may have.

Study Advisors can help with issues such as time management, organising your reading productively or planning essays. Three of our Study Advisors are able to help students doing science subjects with general data analysis and statistical methods.
